Bella is doing really well with her training to stop jumping up on people. She so much wants attention that she will jump up to get it. I have been working with her consistently for the last several weeks. I say down and point one palm to the floor. When she sits, she gets petted and lots of praise. Since she is an "attention hound", I usually get tired of the petting before she does. So then I say "all done" and point both palms to the floor, break eye contact and walk away. She has caught on and follows both commands consistently now. The only problem is when guests come over. They'll say down, and sometimes even do the hand sign, but then don't pet her. You can see her brain thinking "you don't know the rules, this is where you pet me." So then she jumps as if to say, "follow the rules, bub". I guess that means I need to train the guests and train her with guests. But one step at a time, and with that she's done great. You go, Bella girl!
