Basketball season is now in full swing. All three children are playing so a familiar admonition heard at games is "box out". I frequently chuckle to myself that Bella should conduct training sessions on this fundamental basketball skill. She is a master. Chief comes to get scratched behind the ears or petted, Bella boxes him out. She doesn't try it with food or water - she's learned - but for attention, yes, she boxes out like an NBA star. She pushes him out of position with her, um, posterior. Sometimes it's a gentle nudge, often it's a solid bump that moves Chief well out of petting range. She maintains her position under the basket, er, petting hand so she can snag as much rebounded attention as she can!
