Here's a great way to save money on granite countertops. If you have a small kitchen, or you want to do a granite island top, or you want granite in a bathroom, tell the stone supplier that you want to use a remnant slab. This is a part of slab that is leftover from another job. If you are willing to be flexible with the granite you select, or you are willing to wait for a remnant of a granite you want, this method will save you 20-30%. Really! The remnant is just sitting in their yard, taking up space, with no money associated with it so you can get the granite for a much better price. I've used this many times for kitchen island tops and saved a bundle.
Go here to see some popular granite colors. I've used Uba Tuba (yes, that's really what it's called) in my own kitchen, Giallo Veneziano, Tropic Brown, and Multicolor in other houses. For some reason, this list does not show the various black granite styles which are also very popular.
